This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Oversee projects and initiatives within the Fraud Decisioning team.
• Develop tools and systems that enhance Affirm’s capabilities in combating fraud.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and monitor fraud decision-making systems.
• Utilize analytics and data-driven insights to enhance the performance and quality of fraud decision-makers.
• Plan and manage large-scale, cross-functional initiatives, which include project definition, technical specifications, task breakdown, delivery, monitoring, and maintenance.
• Design simple, elegant, and maintainable system architectures.
• Produce high-quality, comprehensible code.
• Review colleagues' work and offer constructive feedback.
• Lead and mentor engineers, facilitating their professional growth.
• Consider stakeholder needs and advocate for ideas and initiatives.
• Conduct evaluations of technical and soft skills for hiring purposes.
• Develop and assess technical interview content and criteria.
• 6-10+ years of experience as a software engineer, holding leadership responsibilities and mentoring junior engineers.
• Previous experience in designing, building, launching, coding, and maintaining complex systems.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Product, ML, Analytics, and Business divisions.
• Proven technical leadership and team-building capabilities, including mentorship in software development best practices.
• Capacity to distill complex business, product, and technical requirements into high-quality system designs and software.
• Ability to architect systems and decompose business and product requirements into system modules or components.
• Either substantial practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline.
• Must reside in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, or Saskatchewan.
