This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of simulation test engineers.
• Define and take ownership of the scaled simulation V&V strategy, roadmap, and technical direction to support Torc’s autonomous truck safety case.
• Ensure that simulation testing methods, processes, and evidence comply with ISO 21448 (SOTIF), ISO 8800, and ISO 26262 standards.
• Collaborate with Product, Systems, and Safety teams to convert requirements, hazards, and ODD definitions into simulation V&V strategies and criteria for release readiness.
• Plan and manage simulation test campaigns, including resource allocation, scheduling, and meeting program milestones.
• Direct the development of Torc’s Scenario Library, ensuring Abstract, Logical, and Concrete scenarios provide ODD coverage and traceability to requirements.
• Identify testing deficiencies and advocate for enhanced test tools, simulation environments, and testing frameworks.
• Maintain relationships with internal tools teams and external vendors to advance simulation and virtual testing toolchains.
• Analyze simulation results and convey V&V status, risks, and findings through dashboards and test reports.
• A Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related discipline with over 6 years of experience, or a Master's degree accompanied by at least 4 years of experience.
• Proven experience leading virtual testing and simulation of perception and autonomous vehicle behavior.
• Solid understanding of ISO 26262, ISO 21448 (SOTIF), and ISO 8800 standards.
• Competence in defining test strategies and overseeing simulation scenarios and test cases with clear traceability to requirements.
• Familiarity with scenario-based testing and the ASAM OpenSCENARIO standard.
• Technical proficiency in Python and SQL for data analysis purposes.
• Experience in software and system troubleshooting, system-level analysis, fault isolation, and identification.
• Understanding of probability, statistics, and linear algebra concepts.
• Proven experience in managing cross-functional partners, internal tools teams, and external simulation vendors.
• Capability in reporting progress and test results to leadership and stakeholders.
• Familiarity with cutting-edge autonomous vehicle validation methodologies.
• Experience in ADAS verification and validation.
• Involvement in contributing to safety cases or safety assurance arguments, including simulation tool qualification.
• Experience in developing and validating sensor, traffic vehicle, and vehicle dynamics models.
• Experience working with and evaluating ROS-based systems.
• Experience in hiring, building, and scaling engineering teams.
