Server Tech Services Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Malaysia.

📋 Description

• Remotely diagnose hardware and network problems on Akamai servers within the APJ region.

• Coordinate server repairs with Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and Field Engineers.

• Oversee the return of Akamai equipment to both warehouses and vendors.

• Collaborate with Hardware Engineering to identify and resolve hardware issues post-deployment.

• Monitor patterns of hardware failures and proactively report findings to Hardware Engineering and vendors.

• Manage the inventory of Akamai hardware assets.

• Troubleshoot the infrastructure that supports Akamai's Content Distribution Network and Internet Security products.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) in technology or a related field, or relevant professional experience.

• A minimum of 1 year of practical experience in network and server hardware fault diagnosis.

• Fundamental understanding of server hardware technologies, such as hard drives, RAM, motherboards, and RAID.

• Basic troubleshooting skills for Layer 1 and Layer 2 issues.

• Familiarity with the OSI Model.

• Knowledge of the Unix/Linux command-line interface (CLI).

• Exposure to data center technologies and infrastructure.

• Capacity to maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, third-party service providers, and vendors.

• Outstanding analytical skills and systematic information gathering for troubleshooting and resolving issues.

• Willingness to occasionally work outside of regular office hours.
