Senior/Staff AI Product Manager, Phoenix Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.

📋 Description

• Take charge of Sword’s Applied AI platform roadmap, overseeing strategic initiatives and innovation as well as platform maintenance.

• Operate at the convergence of AI and product management, utilizing agents, evaluations, harnesses, and observability to support care products.

• Manage platform trade-offs related to cost, latency, quality, open-source models, and in-house development.

• Define initiatives in collaboration with Engineering, AI, and Product teams, ensuring a balance between reusability and differentiation.

• Work closely with Engineering, Product, Clinical, and Operations teams to ensure project scope aligns with high-value member experiences.

• Uphold quality standards post-release and address any model degradation in production.

• Collaborate with the clinical team to ensure safety, including the prevention, detection, and response to agent errors.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in product management, including recent direct ownership of an AI-powered product.

• Strong technical expertise in AI, particularly in generative AI.

• Familiarity with models, prompting, retrieval, and agent architectures.

• Proven experience in delivering LLM-based features to real users.

• Background in evaluation, annotation, observability, and understanding AI failure modes.

• Ability to engage effectively in discussions related to AI or engineering.

• Capacity to stay updated with state-of-the-art advancements and drive innovation using sound product and technical judgment.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Experience utilizing coding agents for debugging, data analysis, production monitoring, small builds, tooling, research, and process automation.

• Proven ability to manage and develop a small product team.

• AI proficiency at least at the Explorer level (Level 1), demonstrating daily use of AI to enhance personal productivity.

• Candidates must have a valid EU visa and be located in Portugal.
