Senior/Principal Software Engineer, Python

📋 Description

• Establish the technical strategy and guide the engineering team in developing modern, scalable, open-source solutions.

• Collaborate with delivery teams to direct architecture and implementation efforts.

• Ensure systems align with business requirements, adhere to technical standards, and achieve long-term maintainability objectives.

• Work alongside the product team, government stakeholders, and other contractors to create new systems and enhance existing ones.

• Lead and mentor engineers, offering coaching, constructive feedback, and support for professional development.

• Collaboratively define the technical vision and architectural roadmap with clients and the delivery team.

• Foster technical alignment among clients, stakeholders, and vendor partners.

• Serve as a bridge between developers, executives, and non-technical stakeholders.

• Make architectural choices that balance long-term program objectives with immediate delivery requirements.

• Oversee technical delivery, managing risks, dependencies, and trade-offs effectively.

• Establish and uphold best practices concerning code quality, testing, security, and documentation.

• Identify and mitigate technical risks alongside cross-functional product teams.

• Guide the planning, estimation, prioritization, trade-offs, technical debt management, and project milestones.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 10 years of software engineering experience, including over 2 years in managing engineers and leading technical delivery efforts.

• Demonstrated expertise in architecting and delivering scalable, maintainable, and secure distributed systems.

• Advanced skills in modern programming languages and frameworks, such as Python, React, Node.js, or their equivalents.

• In-depth knowledge of system integration, data migration, and API/interface development.

• Practical experience with DevOps methodologies, including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, automated testing, and cloud environments like AWS or similar.

• Experience in building and leading cross-functional engineering teams while working collaboratively with product, design, and client stakeholders.

• Familiarity with open-source development and community-driven initiatives.

• Proven ability to lead with empathy, foster trust, and cultivate an environment where engineers can excel.

• Legal eligibility to work in the United States.

• Capability to fulfill additional requirements for government contracts.

• Work authorization that does not necessitate visa sponsorship now or in the future.
