Senior/Lead Software Engineer, Network Systems

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with clients, product management, and hardware engineers to design and develop features for network systems.

• Create software to control temperature sensors, fan controllers, power controllers, storage devices, FPGAs, NICs, and PCIe switches.

• Design abstractions for the integration and packaging of software within hardware drivers.

• Develop hardware-accelerated solutions utilizing hardware and FPGAs to enhance system performance.

• Engage throughout the product lifecycle, from influencing hardware designs to launching new hardware in the market.

• Introduce new features, resolve issues, and optimize code for scalability and performance.

• Take ownership of projects from definition through to deployment and customer engagement.

• Architect, design, and oversee feature development.

• Create and maintain features using C, C++, and Python.

• Review and contribute to functional and design specifications.

• Develop automated tests and testing infrastructure.

• Collaborate with hardware and manufacturing teams to launch new hardware products.

• Design software control interfaces for various hardware components.

• Provide technical leadership across features, projects, and tools.

• Analyze, mitigate, and resolve customer network issues alongside Customer Support Engineers and clients.

• Investigate system-test challenges and implement solutions.

• Mentor new and junior engineers.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering plus 8 years of experience; or a Master’s degree plus 6 years; or a Ph.D. plus 3 years; or equivalent professional experience.

• Proficient in C or C++ and Python.

• Familiarity with UNIX or Linux operating systems.

• Practical experience in designing and developing hardware device drivers and/or system management utilities.

• Solid understanding of software engineering principles.

• Strong analytical and software troubleshooting abilities.

• Capability to design solutions and implement features autonomously.

• Ability to work effectively within small teams.

• Knowledge of IP networking and/or distributed systems is advantageous.

• Experience with low-level hardware components is a plus.
