This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.
• Formulate and implement a strategic business development plan aimed at achieving annual revenue and growth targets.
• Cultivate new business opportunities through professional networks, referrals, centers of influence, active industry participation, and focused prospecting.
• Establish and nurture relationships with business owners, senior executives, finance leaders, risk managers, and other essential client stakeholders.
• Oversee the sales process from initial engagement with prospects to discovery, proposal creation, negotiation, and implementation.
• Perform thorough risk assessments to identify client exposures, business priorities, and current insurance setups.
• Create customized insurance and risk management strategies that align with client operations, risk profiles, and long-term goals.
• Articulate Howden’s capabilities and value proposition to potential clients.
• Collaborate with account executives, brokers, claims professionals, analytics teams, and internal specialists to deliver optimal client solutions.
• Work in coordination with Property and Casualty, Employee Benefits, Financial Lines, Surety, Cyber, Private Client, and specialty practices.
• Enhance existing client relationships by offering additional products, services, and Howden's capabilities.
• Stay informed about insurance market conditions, carrier appetites, emerging risks, coverage advancements, and industry trends.
• Prepare and present proposals, presentations, benchmarking analyses, and other materials for clients.
• Represent Howden within the Denver business community and at various industry and networking events.
• Maintain precise prospect and business development data in the CRM and related systems.
• Contribute to a collaborative, entrepreneurial, and results-driven producer culture.
• Provide support and mentorship to junior producers and colleagues as necessary.
• Extensive experience in commercial insurance brokerage, employee benefits, risk management, financial services, or a similar consultative sales environment.
• Proven success in generating new business and forming long-lasting client relationships.
• Strong professional network within Denver, Colorado, or the wider regional market.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement a strategic sales plan.
• Comprehensive understanding of commercial insurance products, risk management principles, and the insurance landscape.
• Capacity to evaluate complex business needs and convert them into effective insurance and risk management solutions.
• Established track record of achieving or surpassing revenue and production goals.
• Exceptional communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship management abilities.
• Capability to engage credibly with business owners, C-suite executives, risk managers, and other senior decision-makers.
• Entrepreneurial spirit with a desire to build and grow a business portfolio.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple prospects, clients, and priorities effectively.
• Collaborative mindset and capability to work efficiently with account management, placement, claims, analytics, and specialty teams.
• Current insurance license, or the ability to acquire the necessary license post-hire.
• Proficiency in CRM platforms and Microsoft Office applications.
• Preferred experience in commercial property and casualty, employee benefits, construction, real estate, energy, healthcare, manufacturing, transportation, professional services, technology, private equity, financial institutions, executive risk and financial lines, cyber and technology risk, or surety.
