This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Utah.
• Develop and manage the national pipeline.
• Create and implement a comprehensive business development strategy at the platform level, encompassing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, building automation, prefabrication, engineered solutions, and service.
• Identify and prioritize opportunities on a national and multi-regional scale.
• Construct a qualified and predictable pipeline with clearly defined stages, value assessments, and probability weighting.
• Build and sustain executive relationships with facility owners, developers, general contractors, construction managers, program managers, and multi-site end users.
• Represent Kelso at a national level with strategic accounts, industry associations, and major market events.
• Showcase Kelso’s complete MEP+ capability set across construction, retrofitting, maintenance, and ongoing service.
• Align opportunities with the operating companies best positioned to succeed and execute them.
• Collaborate with operating company presidents and preconstruction and estimating teams during pursuit transitions.
• Remain actively involved as an executive sponsor and relationship owner throughout the pursuit process.
• Develop multi-operating-company pursuits that span different trades or regions.
• Implement CRM discipline, pipeline reporting, and governance for pursuits.
• Establish standards for qualified opportunities.
• Provide market intelligence to executive leadership.
• Work with corporate development on acquisition prospects.
• Recruit, develop, and lead a business development team as the function expands.
• Report directly to the CEO and participate as a senior member of the platform leadership team.
• Deliver target account lists, qualified pipelines, governance for hand-offs, sourced platform revenue, strategic accounts, and scalable processes.
• Over 12 years of experience in business development, sales, or preconstruction leadership within MEP, specialty trades, general contracting, or industrial services.
• Proven track record of sourcing and influencing large, complex construction or facilities opportunities valued in the tens to hundreds of millions.
• Established executive-level relationships with owners, developers, general contractors, or multi-site end users.
• Proficient understanding of MEP scopes, construction delivery methods, and the preconstruction process.
• Experience in decentralized or multi-entity organizational structures.
• Willingness to travel 50% of the time or more.
• Preferred: Experience in a private equity–backed platform, roll-up, or multi-brand operational setting.
• Preferred: Background in data centers, healthcare, advanced manufacturing, or other high-complexity end markets.
• Preferred: Familiarity with design-build and design-assist delivery methods.
• Preferred: Experience in selling recurring service and maintenance agreements alongside capital projects.
• Preferred: Previous experience in establishing a business development function rather than taking over an existing one.
