Senior UI/UX Designer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.

📋 Description

• Create engaging AI-driven user experiences for web, desktop, mobile, and administrative platforms.

• Investigate interaction models for generative AI, conversational interfaces, copilots, assistants, recommendations, content creation, summarization, and workflow automation.

• Design AI experiences that can reason, suggest actions, perform tasks, and manage multi-step workflows.

• Simplify complex AI functionalities into intuitive interactions for business users.

• Develop prompts, suggestions, generated content, AI actions, confirmations, feedback, and patterns for human intervention.

• Clearly convey AI activities, recommendations, reasoning, and actions to users.

• Lead design projects from discovery and concept development to prototyping, implementation, launch, and post-launch refinement.

• Conduct user research, usability studies, interviews, competitive analysis, and workflow evaluations.

• Generate user journeys, workflows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs.

• Assess experiences using both qualitative and quantitative data and suggest enhancements.

• Design for aspects such as trust, transparency, uncertainty, errors, hallucinations, confirmation, undo actions, escalation, and human-in-the-loop workflows.

• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Security, Privacy, and Legal teams to uphold responsible AI principles.

• Contribute to Intermedia's design system by defining reusable AI interaction patterns and components.

• Work alongside Product Managers, Product Owners, AI/ML engineers, software engineers, architects, researchers, and designers.

• Lead design workshops, communicate design rationale, challenge assumptions, mentor fellow designers, and provide design leadership.

• Keep abreast of emerging AI technologies and interaction trends.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional experience in UI/UX, Product Design, or Interaction Design, preferably with complex SaaS or enterprise software.

• A strong portfolio showcasing end-to-end product design, intricate workflows, interaction design, and thoughtful problem solving.

• Comprehensive knowledge of usability, UX/UI, interaction design, information architecture, accessibility, and human factors principles.

• Proven ability to analyze complex requirements and transform them into simple, elegant solutions.

• Experience in conducting or participating in user research and usability testing.

• High proficiency with Figma, prototyping tools, and contemporary design-system practices.

• Background in collaborating closely with Product Management and Engineering within an Agile software development environment.

• Exceptional communication, presentation, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.

• Capability to thrive in ambiguous situations and rapidly changing requirements.

• Keen attention to detail while maintaining a broader perspective on product and customer experience.

• Experience in designing products or features that leverage generative AI, machine learning, or intelligent automation.

• Understanding of large language models (LLMs) including their opportunities and constraints.

• Familiarity with conversational UX and natural language interfaces.

• Insight into prompts, context, AI-generated content, confidence and uncertainty, hallucinations, and AI feedback loops.

• Awareness of AI agents and multi-step action design patterns.

• Experience considering trust, transparency, explainability, privacy, and user control in AI-driven experiences.

• Strong enthusiasm for experimenting with innovative AI tools and interaction models.

• This position is fully remote, based in Portugal.
