This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.
• Take ownership of the user interface and player experience for Heptic Arena on both PC and console platforms.
• Report directly to the Creative Director while establishing the UI vision, standards, and direction for the game.
• Design screens, create assets, and work within the engine on a daily basis.
• Define and uphold the game's UX/UI visual language and design system.
• Oversee UI/UX throughout the entire player journey, including the front end, HUD, menus, progression, store, social features, and onboarding processes.
• Propose, conceptualize, design, prototype, and deliver wireframes, user flows, screen maps, mockups, and final UI assets from initial concept to polished product.
• Collaborate with Game Design and Engineering teams on implementation within Unreal Engine.
• Address UX trade-offs and technical limitations early in the process.
• Utilize playtest feedback, analytics, and A/B testing to identify UX issues and refine solutions.
• Mentor junior designers and freelancers through design reviews, providing feedback and clear briefs.
• Estimate, plan, and prioritize UX/UI tasks in conjunction with Production.
• Execute and manage development while creating and assigning UX/UI tasks in Jira.
• Maintain UX/UI documentation in Confluence as the definitive source of truth for the team.
• Implement review and QA processes to ensure that the developed UI meets quality, consistency, and accessibility standards.
• Represent UI/UX in leadership and cross-disciplinary discussions, advocating for the player's experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in game UI/UX design.
• At least one shipped title for PC or console.
• Strong portfolio showcasing PC/console game UI work, excluding mobile projects.
• In-depth understanding of UI design principles, information hierarchy, and usability tailored for real-time, action-oriented games.
• Practical experience implementing UI in Unreal Engine; familiarity with UMG/Common UI is preferred.
• Proficient in using Figma, Miro, Axure, Adobe XD, or similar design tools.
• Experience in building and maintaining a UI design system or style guide.
• Proven track record of guiding and mentoring other designers while providing clear and constructive feedback.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Confident in presenting and defending design choices to stakeholders.
• Comfortable using Jira, Confluence, and Google Workspace.
• Self-motivated and organized, thriving in a remote, self-managing team environment.
• Located in or near the Central European time zone (CET ± 2 hours).
• Nice to have: experience with UI animation and motion design tools, such as After Effects, Rive, or in-engine animation.
• Nice to have: background in multiplayer, live-service, or competitive shooter UI.
• Nice to have: understanding of console platform UI guidelines.
• Nice to have: familiarity with accessibility standards applicable to games.
• Nice to have: experience conducting or analyzing usability tests.
