Senior UI/UX Designer – AI Assistants

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.

📋 Description

• Create user-friendly experiences for AI-driven functionalities across web, desktop, mobile, and admin interfaces.

• Investigate interaction frameworks for generative AI, conversational interfaces, virtual assistants, intelligent suggestions, content creation, summarization, and process automation.

• Develop innovative agentic AI experiences that can reason, suggest actions, perform tasks, and manage multi-step workflows.

• Simplify complex AI capabilities into user-friendly interactions for business users.

• Design prompts, recommendations, generated content, AI actions, confirmations, feedback, and patterns for human intervention.

• Craft experiences that explain AI's actions, the rationale behind its recommendations, and the steps it has taken or plans to take.

• Lead design projects from initial discovery and concept through prototyping, implementation, launch, and post-launch refinement.

• Conduct user research, usability studies, interviews, competitive assessments, and workflow evaluations.

• Convert customer challenges and product needs into user journeys, workflows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs.

• Formulate and test design hypotheses through quick prototyping and user feedback.

• Leverage both qualitative and quantitative data to assess experiences and suggest enhancements.

• Design AI experiences that prioritize trust, transparency, explainability, privacy, user authority, uncertainty, error management, confirmation, undo actions, escalation, and human-in-the-loop processes.

• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Security, Privacy, and Legal teams on ethical AI practices.

• Enhance Intermedia’s design system with reusable patterns and components tailored for AI experiences.

• Ensure consistent and accessible integration of AI capabilities across products.

• Lead design workshops and collaborative discovery sessions.

• Articulate design reasoning, research insights, user requirements, and trade-offs to stakeholders.

• Provide design leadership and mentorship to fellow designers.

• Remain updated on emerging AI technologies and interaction trends.

• Assist in establishing a design language and interaction principles for AI throughout Intermedia’s product suite.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional experience in UI/UX, Product Design, or Interaction Design, preferably with complex SaaS or enterprise software.

• A robust portfolio showcasing end-to-end product design, intricate workflows, interaction design, and innovative problem-solving.

• Comprehensive understanding of usability, UX/UI, interaction design, information architecture, accessibility, and human factors principles.

• Strong capability to analyze complex requirements and transform them into simple, elegant solutions.

• Experience in conducting or participating in user research and usability testing.

• High proficiency in Figma, prototyping tools, and contemporary design-system methodologies.

• Experience collaborating closely with Product Management and Engineering in an Agile software development environment.

• Excellent communication, presentation, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.

• Ability to navigate effectively through ambiguity and rapidly changing requirements.

• Strong attention to detail while maintaining a holistic view of the product and customer experience.

• Experience in designing products or features that leverage generative AI, machine learning, or intelligent automation.

• Familiarity with large language models (LLMs) and their potential and limitations.

• Understanding of conversational UX and natural language interfaces.

• Knowledge of prompts, context, AI-generated content, confidence and uncertainty, hallucinations, and feedback loops in AI.

• Familiarity with AI agents and multi-step actions performed on behalf of users.

• Experience considering trust, transparency, explainability, privacy, and user control in AI experiences.
