Senior Technical Writer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Author, revise, and sustain technical publications related to upgrades in aircraft avionics and communication systems.

• Create technical manuals, maintenance guides, installation procedures, operational protocols, troubleshooting guides, and sustainment documentation.

• Generate and uphold Technical Orders, Technical Manuals, Installation Control Drawings documentation, Equipment Installation Instructions, Interface Control Documents, Interface Design Descriptions, as well as software, airworthiness, logistics, and sustainment documentation.

• Develop publication packages for system integration laboratories, modifications to aircraft, and ground support systems.

• Document system architectures, requirements traceability, design assessments, integration activities, verification and validation efforts, configuration management processes, and changes in hardware and software.

• Create and maintain documentation related to software.

• Coordinate documentation initiatives between software teams and system integration personnel.

• Assist in documentation reviews associated with laboratory tests, ground tests, and flight test events.

• Develop and sustain military technical orders in compliance with government standards.

• Ensure that publications adhere to relevant military standards and customer specifications.

• Create Integrated Logistics Support documentation and assist in Level of Repair Analysis documentation, Support Equipment documentation, Training System Implementation Plans, and training materials for operators and maintainers, including courseware and classroom resources.

• Engage in engineering working groups and program reviews.

• Collect technical information from subject matter experts and translate it into clear, concise, and accurate documentation.

⛳️ Requirements

• An active Secret Security Clearance is required at the time of employment.

• A Bachelor's degree in Technical Communications, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Aviation Technology, or a related technical field.

• Over 9 years of technical writing experience.

• More than 5 years of experience supporting avionics, aerospace, military aircraft, or defense programs.

• Proficiency in developing technical publications for intricate hardware and software systems.

• Experience in supporting aircraft modification or integration programs.

• Familiarity with engineering development environments.

• Experience with AWACS, ISR, C2, airborne communications, or large aircraft mission systems.

• Must possess eligibility to work in the United States.
