This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop, modify, and sustain standard operating procedures (SOPs), desk guides, process maps, templates, checklists, decision trees, reference materials, and additional program resources.
• Convert statutes, policies, government directives, and insights from subject matter experts into clear, concise, and actionable operational guidance.
• Establish and uphold a well-organized digital resource repository with appropriate naming conventions, metadata, version control, and archival practices.
• Document comprehensive workflows for intake, technical reviews, clarifications, quality assurance, audits, and government disposition activities.
• Revise technical review documents, monthly reports, communication materials, and audit documents for clarity, consistency, grammar, and compliance with approved formats.
• Create and maintain style guides, templates, controlled terminology, and editorial standards for program deliverables.
• Lead content-development sessions with technical reviewers, auditors, QA personnel, and VA stakeholders, integrating feedback into final products.
• Ensure that guidance and templates are aligned with the latest policy interpretations, process decisions, and lessons learned.
• Design user-friendly job aids and quick-reference tools that minimize errors and expedite onboarding and reviewer performance.
• Conduct final quality checks to verify accuracy, accessibility, usability, and document integrity prior to publication.
• Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, technical writing, public policy, business, healthcare administration, or a related field.
• At least 8 years of professional experience in technical writing, editing, process documentation, or knowledge management.
• Proven experience in developing SOPs, manuals, guides, templates, process maps, and other controlled operational documentation.
• Exceptional mastery of grammar, plain language, document structure, and editorial quality control.
• Ability to interview subject matter experts, synthesize complex requirements, and write for diverse audiences.
• Experience in managing document versions, review cycles, comment resolution, and publication workflows.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
• Capability to create polished process visuals using Visio or similar tools.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
• Experience writing for the VA, VHA, or another federal agency.
• Experience documenting processes related to eligibility, compliance, audits, credentialing, recognition, or case management.
• Familiarity with Section 508 accessibility, plain-language standards, and federal document conventions.
• Experience in establishing knowledge repositories, content governance, and records-management practices.
• Experience supporting Lean process improvement, human-centered design, or change-management initiatives.
