
Senior Technical Sales Specialist, Downstream Bioproduction

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Promote and sell Thermo Fisher’s Downstream Workflow products to biotech and biopharma clients for process development and manufacturing.
• Achieve or surpass designated sales targets for downstream workflow products, including POROS, CaptureSelect, and GIBCO offerings.
• Actively pursue growth and seek out new business prospects within the designated territory.
• Visit customer locations for sales presentations and meetings.
• Collaborate closely with applications teams to drive sales from evaluation to closure.
• Introduce and integrate downstream workflow products into new processes at client accounts.
• Discover new opportunities within existing client accounts.
• Work together with customers and product management to forecast and relay details regarding large orders and shipments.
• Continuously enhance sales skills through technical and sales training.
• Regularly update Salesforce and business plans proactively.
• Participate in tradeshows, conferences, and read industry journals to stay informed about company products.
• Partner with sales colleagues handling other BioProduction products to expand Thermo’s overall Bioproduction business.
• Manage a territory that includes Southern California, Utah, Arizona, and Nevada.
• Foster customer relationships to ensure accurate forecasting and production planning.
• Bachelor's or advanced degree (B.S, M.A, PhD, or equivalent experience) in Chemistry or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of sales experience in the biopharmaceutical market is required.
• Experience in Bioproduction or chromatography workflows is preferred.
• Technical knowledge across the downstream bioprocessing workflow, including chromatography resins, process liquids, production solutions, and chemicals.
• Proven sales history and established relationships with downstream process development organizations.
• Demonstrated ability to cultivate and sustain strong customer relationships.
• In-depth understanding of customer accounts, manufacturing processes, and stakeholder priorities.
• Capability to evaluate and interpret customer process and operational requirements.
• Skill in delivering customized technical and commercial solutions across the downstream workflow.
• Strong analytical skills to assess territory sales performance, market dynamics, growth opportunities, technical data, manufacturing workflows, and application-specific information.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and within cross-functional, matrixed team environments.
• Proven record of sales success and strategic relationship management within downstream bioprocessing, process development, and biopharmaceutical manufacturing sectors.
• Ability to position integrated downstream solutions encompassing chromatography, buffers, process liquids, production chemicals, and manufacturing support services.
• Positive technical, analytical, and relationship-building abilities.
• Residency in Southern California is required; relocation assistance is not provided.
