This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +23 more states.
• Define and execute Skillable's data products, analytics capabilities, and data infrastructure.
• Take ownership of specific areas within the data ecosystem and lead technical planning, requirement gathering, accessibility, reliability, actionability, and scalability efforts.
• Collaborate with engineering, data, infrastructure, architects, DevOps, and business stakeholders to convert data strategy into secure, scalable technical features.
• Oversee the planning and delivery of platform capabilities such as self-service reporting, internal business intelligence, data dictionaries, customer data access, and insights generation.
• Convert product strategy into technical requirements and system designs for engineering implementation.
• Act as the Product Owner within Agile delivery teams.
• Maintain a well-organized backlog and draft technical features and user stories complete with acceptance criteria.
• Develop and implement product vision, strategy, and plans to broaden Skillable’s total addressable market.
• Establish metrics to assess feature adoption and engagement.
• Foster continuous improvement in platform tools, automation, and external system integrations.
• Facilitate technical planning sessions, architecture trade-off discussions, and risk assessments.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for designated domains and contribute to documentation, technical specifications, and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with product marketing and enablement teams.
• Engage in incident reviews, identifying root causes and resolution paths with SRE and engineering teams.
• Represent platform needs in engineering forums, sprint demos, and internal release reviews.
• Assist in customer escalations, engagements, and outbound activities as a subject matter expert.
• Identify opportunities to utilize AI for data products, workflows, automation, and user experiences.
• Integrate AI and emerging technologies into product strategy and roadmap planning.
• Leverage AI tools for product discovery, requirement development, data analysis, documentation, and various product management workflows.
• Participate in the interviewing and selection of new team members.
• Uphold company values through positive interactions with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Take part in strategic business initiatives and special cross-functional projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in Data, Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent work experience.
• Over 8 years of experience in technical product management or a related technical role.
• At least 5 years of experience working with customers, drafting requirements for new product offerings, and collaborating with architects, developers, and related peer groups.
• Strong familiarity with AI tools, technologies, and platforms.
• Proven ability to identify practical applications of AI for business or customer challenges.
• Experience utilizing AI tools for research, requirements development, analysis, documentation, or decision-making.
• Knowledge of data extraction techniques using Boomi/Rivery.
• Understanding of data transformation processes using DBT.
• Experience with data visualization tools like Power BI and Tableau.
• Familiarity with cloud, container, and data center platforms such as Azure and AWS is preferred.
• Understanding of networking, identity, observability, and storage services is preferred.
• Ability to articulate clear, technically rigorous requirements and collaborate on architectural decision-making.
• Experience delivering backend or infrastructure-heavy projects alongside cross-functional teams.
• Interest and ability to mentor and/or train team members.
• Strong communication skills with internal and external stakeholders, including leadership.
• Capability to present material formally and informally to all levels within the organization.
• Proven organizational skills with the ability to manage both short- and long-term demands simultaneously.
• Adaptability to evolving business needs while maintaining professionalism.
• Experience working in Agile environments, managing backlogs, sprint planning, and delivery processes.
• Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, prioritization, and documentation abilities.
• Comfort operating in a fully remote environment using modern communication and collaboration tools.
• High attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Suite, including Teams or similar conferencing and internal communication software, is preferred.
• Experience working in a fully remote team is preferred but not mandatory.
• Understanding of business operations and processes, or a willingness to learn quickly.
• Background in systems design or hands-on engineering is preferred.
• Experience with Skillable platform technologies, including lab design, creation, management, delivery, and architecture, is preferred.
• Experience supporting or building platforms utilized internally by engineering and product teams is preferred.
• Experience in software engineering and software design is preferred.
• Must have primary residence in one of the specified U.S. states.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.; Skillable participates in E-Verify.
• A remote home office space that supports privacy and focus for frequent video and voice calls is required.
• Occasional travel of up to approximately 10% may be necessary.
