Senior Technical Content Writer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Conduct research, create outlines, draft, and revise detailed guides on cost management topics related to Databricks and Snowflake.

• Organize intricate technical material for professionals in data engineering and analytics.

• Manage the entire revision process by incorporating feedback from internal subject matter experts and external technical reviewers.

• Generate a minimum of two technical blog posts each month focusing on cost and query optimization for Databricks and Snowflake.

• Base writing on observed trends and specific data rather than marketing claims.

• Transform long-form content into blog posts or create standalone articles linked to releases, updates, or challenges faced by practitioners.

• Develop research outlines, speaker scripts, and slide frameworks for both live and on-demand webinars.

• Work in conjunction with internal engineers and external practitioners to shape webinar content.

• Expand content coverage to include Snowflake and BigQuery as the program evolves.

• Independently manage workstreams from research through to publish-ready drafts, and integrate feedback into collaborative reviews.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5 to 8 years of experience in technical content creation.

• A portfolio that showcases expertise in data engineering, cloud infrastructure, or related fields.

• Proven ability to write for practitioners of Databricks and Snowflake, including data engineers, analytics engineers, platform engineers, or FinOps specialists.

• Practical knowledge of Databricks and Snowflake, including cluster configuration, job compute, and cost optimization strategies.

• Experience in creating ebooks and long-form guides with effective structure and pacing.

• Capability to operate at a senior level, drive workstreams, establish a research agenda, and proactively identify accuracy issues.

• Strong editorial insight.

• Direct writing experience with BigQuery or other cloud data warehouse/lakehouse systems is preferred.

• Familiarity with FinOps concepts as they relate to data infrastructure is preferred.

• Experience in writing webinar scripts or technical presentations is preferred.

• A background as a practitioner transitioning into technical writing is preferred.

• Availability to work during United States hours and overlap with Eastern Time to Pacific Time business hours.
