This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada, +1 more state.
β’ Conduct research, create outlines, draft, and revise detailed guides on cost management topics related to Databricks and Snowflake.
β’ Organize intricate technical material for professionals in data engineering and analytics.
β’ Manage the entire revision process by incorporating feedback from internal subject matter experts and external technical reviewers.
β’ Generate a minimum of two technical blog posts each month focusing on cost and query optimization for Databricks and Snowflake.
β’ Base writing on observed trends and specific data rather than marketing claims.
β’ Transform long-form content into blog posts or create standalone articles linked to releases, updates, or challenges faced by practitioners.
β’ Develop research outlines, speaker scripts, and slide frameworks for both live and on-demand webinars.
β’ Work in conjunction with internal engineers and external practitioners to shape webinar content.
β’ Expand content coverage to include Snowflake and BigQuery as the program evolves.
β’ Independently manage workstreams from research through to publish-ready drafts, and integrate feedback into collaborative reviews.
β’ 5 to 8 years of experience in technical content creation.
β’ A portfolio that showcases expertise in data engineering, cloud infrastructure, or related fields.
β’ Proven ability to write for practitioners of Databricks and Snowflake, including data engineers, analytics engineers, platform engineers, or FinOps specialists.
β’ Practical knowledge of Databricks and Snowflake, including cluster configuration, job compute, and cost optimization strategies.
β’ Experience in creating ebooks and long-form guides with effective structure and pacing.
β’ Capability to operate at a senior level, drive workstreams, establish a research agenda, and proactively identify accuracy issues.
β’ Strong editorial insight.
β’ Direct writing experience with BigQuery or other cloud data warehouse/lakehouse systems is preferred.
β’ Familiarity with FinOps concepts as they relate to data infrastructure is preferred.
β’ Experience in writing webinar scripts or technical presentations is preferred.
β’ A background as a practitioner transitioning into technical writing is preferred.
β’ Availability to work during United States hours and overlap with Eastern Time to Pacific Time business hours.
