Senior Substation Physical Designer 2 – Grid

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate within a project team setting alongside engineers and other designers focused on high and extra high voltage substation design.

• Create general arrangement drawings for substations.

• Develop plans for electrical equipment within substations.

• Generate section views and elevations for substations.

• Prepare detailed bills of materials for substations.

• Design lightning stroke shielding plans for substations.

• Create grounding plans for substations.

• Develop details for conduit, electrical connections, and grounding in substations.

• Prepare plans for below-grade conduit and raceways in substations.

• Create plans and sections for control building equipment, cable trays, lighting, and grounding.

• Analyze and incorporate vendor data into design deliverables.

• Conduct walkdowns at client facilities.

• Adhere to client standards pertinent to the work.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 12 years of experience in substation physical design.

• An Associate’s Degree in Drafting, or a high school diploma accompanied by 2 or more years of drafting coursework or equivalent technical experience.

• Proficient in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.

• Capability to visualize components in 3D without computer assistance.

• Familiarity with design techniques, tools, and principles utilized in creating technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.

• Understanding of the practical application of engineering science and technology, including the ability to connect various equipment to technical designs.
