Senior Substation Engineer – Grid

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate within a project team alongside engineers and designers on comprehensive electrical design and project management for high-voltage substation initiatives.

• Engage in project conceptualization, work planning, and execution phases.

• Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve electrical engineering challenges.

• Create clear and concise technical and project reports that adhere to client specifications and S&L standards.

• Enhance professional growth through peer learning and participation in Communities of Practice.

• Travel to client locations as required.

• Employ suitable technology, data, automation, artificial intelligence, and digital tools to augment engineering, design, research, analysis, or workflow enhancements as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering is mandatory.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in the design of Medium Voltage Power Systems is required.

• Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects within budgetary and time constraints.

• Experience in monitoring project details such as schedules and expenditures against budgets, and preparing status updates and client communications.

• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills are essential.

• Proven experience in reviewing design drawings produced by others.

• Proficiency in MS Office applications is required.

• U.S. work authorization is necessary; the employer does not provide work authorization sponsorship.

• A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred.

• A degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program is preferred.

• At least 3 years of experience in designing substations of 138kV and above is preferred.

• Capability to prepare substation grounding, direct stroke shielding, and battery & charger sizing calculations is preferred.

• Experience in physical layout and protection & controls is preferred.

• Ability to develop substation single line, relaying & metering, DC schematic, plan & section, and grounding diagrams in collaboration with a Designer is preferred.

• Familiarity with ANSI/IEEE/NEMA standards and the National Electrical Safety Code (ANSI-C2) is preferred.

• A PE license is preferred.

• Experience with AutoCAD is preferred.
