This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.
• Serve as the structural lead and engineer of record for substations, switchyards, and various electrical infrastructure projects.
• Conduct engineering calculations and create analytical models for the design of structural steel and concrete.
• Collaborate with Project Engineers and Project Managers to forecast workloads, establish design schedules, and manage budgets.
• Assist with the estimation of tasks and efforts for proposal support.
• Contribute to the business development strategy focused on substations and high-voltage electrical infrastructure.
• Coordinate with civil and structural design teams to produce engineering drawings.
• Work across disciplines to collaborate on general arrangements and vendor procurement packages.
• Develop, update, and implement specific standards for the group.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, specifications, and contract documents.
• Review and validate the work of peers and groups.
• Mentor civil and structural engineers while aiding in the development of departmental standards.
• Occasionally travel to AECOM locations and client sites.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline, accompanied by 6 years of relevant experience or a demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• Proven experience in structural design for both overhead and underground transmission and distribution systems.
• Familiarity with substation projects.
• Professional Engineering Licensure (PE) is required.
• Preferred: A minimum of 10 years of experience, including at least 3 years in a structural engineering lead or engineer of record role.
• In-depth knowledge of industry codes and standards, such as NESC, G.O.95, ASCE, IEEE, AISC, IBC, ACI, RUS, and NEC.
• Experience managing complex, multi-discipline programs/projects and working with CAD teams.
• Proficient in executing work within 3D model environments.
• Professional experience in modeling, analyzing, and designing steel structures and foundations.
• Familiarity with various voltage levels.
• Proficient in PLS-CADD software, including PLS-Tower and PLS-Pole.
• Experienced with structural analysis and design software such as STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, MFAD, and L-Pile.
• Experience working with remote teams.
• Familiarity with full EPC and Design/Build projects from inception to completion.
• Experience in Owner’s Engineering roles.
• Experience with retrofit or brownfield projects.
