This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Lead and conduct structural design and analysis for various hyperscale and colocation data center facilities.
• Create design documentation for tilt-up concrete panels, precast structures, steel framing systems, as well as deep and shallow foundations.
• Coordinate design outputs with architectural, civil, MEP, and construction teams.
• Supervise construction documents, specifications, and calculations to ensure quality, code compliance, and technical excellence.
• Mentor junior engineers and designers.
• Interact with clients, contractors, and review authorities regarding technical inquiries and design clarifications.
• Assist in business development, proposal writing, and conceptual structural design for new projects.
• Travel as necessary for client meetings, site visits, and other project-related activities.
• Collaborate with global AECOM teams on high-profile data center initiatives.
• Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering with at least 8 years of relevant professional experience, or a demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• Licensed U.S. Professional Engineer (PE or SE).
• Experience in the design and analysis of building structures.
• Specific experience in data center, mission critical, or large-scale logistics/industrial facilities.
• Proficiency with BIM ACC (Revit), ETABS, RISA, RAM, SAP2000, and SAFE.
• Experience with precast concrete systems, steel design, seismic design, and foundation systems.
• Proven experience with low embodied carbon materials and sustainable structural design strategies.
• Preferred: 3+ years of experience with data center facilities and familiarity with data center-specific design standards and structural resiliency requirements.
• Preferred: LEED, Envision, or active leadership in SE 2050 implementation.
• Expertise in sustainable structural systems and emerging industry best practices.
• Strong communication, coordination, and leadership abilities.
• Capability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary and geographically diverse teams.
• Ability to interpret and apply national and local building codes.
