This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Lead and execute structural design and analysis for various hyperscale and colocation data center facilities.
• Create design documentation for tilt-up concrete panels, precast structures, steel framing systems, and both deep and shallow foundations.
• Coordinate design outputs with architectural, civil, MEP, and construction teams.
• Review construction documents, specifications, and calculations to ensure quality, code compliance, and technical excellence.
• Mentor junior engineers and design professionals.
• Interact with clients, contractors, and reviewing authorities regarding technical inquiries and design clarifications.
• Assist in business development, proposal writing, and conceptual structural design for new initiatives.
• Occasionally travel for client meetings, site inspections, key project milestones, and onsite collaboration sessions.
• Work with global AECOM data center teams on high-profile projects.
• Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or equivalent experience and/or education.
• At least 8 years of relevant professional experience in building structures design and analysis, or equivalent experience and/or education.
• Licensed U.S. Professional Engineer (PE or SE).
• Experience with data centers, mission-critical facilities, or large-scale logistics/industrial buildings.
• Proficient in BIM ACC (Revit), ETABS, RISA, RAM, SAP2000, and SAFE.
• Familiarity with precast concrete systems, steel design, seismic design, and foundation systems.
• Proven experience with low embodied carbon materials and sustainable structural design practices.
• Ability to interpret and apply national and local building codes.
• Preferred: 3+ years of experience with data center facilities and knowledge of data center design standards and structural resilience requirements.
• Preferred: LEED, Envision, or active involvement in SE 2050 implementation.
• Expertise in low embodied carbon materials, sustainable structural systems, and emerging industry best practices.
• Strong communication, coordination, and leadership abilities.
• Capacity to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary and geographically diverse teams.
