Senior Storage Systems Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Integrate high-performance storage solutions based on NFS, such as VAST and Dell PowerScale, into Kubernetes clusters utilizing CSI, storage classes, and persistent volumes.

• Optimize NFS data paths, mount options, nconnect/RDMA, Linux clients, and network configurations to achieve high-throughput, low-latency for GPU and AI workloads.

• Deploy and manage storage services and operators effectively.

• Oversee storage capacity management, quotas, snapshots, and lifecycle processes.

• Configure and enhance Linux systems to support storage workloads, including drivers, file system structures, network configurations, and kernel parameters.

• Facilitate storage integration for k0s-based Kubernetes using Cluster API and K0rdent management, along with child-cluster topologies.

• Manage storage in fully disconnected, air-gapped environments, addressing Harbor artifact/mirror connectivity and PKI/TLS considerations.

• Automate the provisioning and configuration of storage using Terraform/OpenTofu and GitOps pipelines via ArgoCD or Flux.

• Develop monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions for assessing storage performance, capacity, and health.

• Identify and troubleshoot performance, reliability, and scalability issues within the storage stack.

• Establish operational standards and facilitate communication across teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 7 years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) or hardware/storage infrastructure operations.

• At least 5 years of experience in building and managing distributed production storage systems at scale.

• Over 7 years of expertise in Linux and Kubernetes storage fundamentals, including NFS and CSI.

• A minimum of 1 year of experience in integrating or developing high-performance storage solutions such as VAST, Weka, DDN, or PowerScale.

• Extensive knowledge of Linux storage and networking, encompassing kernel and NFS-client layers.

• Proficient experience with Kubernetes storage, CSI, storage classes, and persistent volumes.

• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and GitOps methodologies, preferably with Terraform/OpenTofu and ArgoCD or Flux.

• Experience in high-performance NAS, NFS tuning, mount options, nconnect/RDMA, Linux clients, and network configurations.

• Knowledge of bare-metal hardware is a significant advantage.

• Required experience with k0s, Cluster API, K0rdent, air-gapped environments, Harbor, and PKI/TLS considerations relevant to this role.
