Lead Packaging Systems Engineer – Paper, General Industrial

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Lead and support mechanical design initiatives for converting and packaging line projects.

• Implement capital projects adhering to established scopes, budgets, and timelines.

• Create concepts, deliverables, effort estimations, and cost projections for engineering proposals.

• Develop system analyses, conceptual designs, layouts, equipment specifications, and comprehensive design packages for bidding and installation.

• Assign design tasks and ensure accountability among team members.

• Conduct quality assurance and quality control of design packages.

• Regularly engage with clients and vendors.

• Collaborate as part of a cohesive project team.

• Collect field data and perform field investigations in manufacturing settings.

• Request and evaluate equipment bids.

• Facilitate internal and client design reviews.

• Offer startup assistance and troubleshoot installed systems.

• Travel to various Foth offices or client sites, approximately 25–35% of the year.

• Mentor and coach fellow engineers and designers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent technical experience.

• Over 10 years of industry-relevant experience in consumer product engineering.

• Regular travel to other Foth offices or client locations is expected, approximately 25–35% of the year.

• Preferred: Over 15 years of experience in integration systems and systems engineering related to consumer towel and tissue products and/or paper converting/packaging systems.

• Preferred: Experience in developing system concepts, finalizing system designs, and creating written line operations strategies.

• Preferred: Experience with conveyor applications.

• Preferred: Knowledge of web handling processes (unwind, rewind, cutting, printing) specific to towel and tissue.

• Preferred: Skills in analyzing and designing utilities to support converting systems.

• Preferred: Proficiency in AutoCAD.

• Preferred: Familiarity with 3D design software.

• Preferred: Experience with simulation software (FlexSim, Plant Simulation).

• Preferred: Knowledge of Autodesk Navisworks and ReCap.

• Preferred: Understanding of balanced line flow within converting and packaging systems.

• Must complete mandatory drug testing within two business days of accepting the offer.

• Must be willing to work in a manufacturing environment and conduct field investigations as needed.
