This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Establish the technical direction for the platform as the leading individual contributor on the team.
• Take ownership of architecture for significant, cross-organizational infrastructure initiatives.
• Guide the implementation of the Istio service mesh across the organization.
• Develop architecture for the Multi-Region Resilience Program.
• Direct the technical vision of the AI-enhanced Service Catalog.
• Define architectural patterns, best practices, and foundational elements for other engineering teams.
• Create shared components that enhance delivery consistency across various teams.
• Troubleshoot production incidents at the mesh layer and strengthen migration tools.
• Address cross-team architectural conflicts.
• Oversee multi-organization rollouts and resolve issues related to resources, sequencing, and environment drift.
• Manage testing infrastructure strategy across various iteration environments, pre-production confidence checks, and multi-service validation.
• Mentor Staff and Senior engineers on system design, migration strategy, and collaborative initiatives.
• Spearhead infrastructure consolidations and migrations, including CI/CD platform modifications, artifact registry updates, and dependency enhancements.
• Establish metrics for platform adoption, incident trends, cost trajectories, and developer sentiment.
• Collaborate with senior engineering leadership and teams across organizational lines.
• 12+ years of experience in Platform, Infrastructure, DevOps, or SRE roles.
• Proven ownership of at least one initiative that spans multiple teams or business units.
• Extensive, production-proven knowledge in Kubernetes/EKS, service mesh, and Infrastructure-as-Code at a significant scale.
• Strong expertise in service mesh, particularly with Istio, including mTLS, traffic shaping, sidecar architecture, and multi-cluster rollout.
• History of leading complex, multi-quarter technical programs from architecture to execution.
• Ability to create cost/risk analyses and phased proposals that secure leadership buy-in and funding.
• Experience in debugging and resolving production incidents in distributed, multi-hop systems.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Go, Python, TypeScript, or Java.
• Capability to influence without direct authority across engineering organizations.
• Experience mentoring Staff-level engineers and shaping broader engineering system design practices.
• Familiarity with AI-native platform tools, agentic tooling, MCP-backed APIs, and best practices for deploying AI agents in production (preferred).
• Proven track record of driving large-scale cost or infrastructure consolidation initiatives with measurable business impact (preferred).
• Experience with multi-region or high-availability architecture, including RPO/RTO planning and per-journey SLO definition (preferred).
• Comfortable writing RFCs and technical proposals for leadership, as well as presenting to senior engineering leadership (preferred).
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without restrictions for any employer.
• Must indicate if U.S. immigration sponsorship will be necessary.
