This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.
β’ Design, implement, and oversee AWS RDS and Aurora environments, which include Aurora, MariaDB, and Postgres.
β’ Manage and enhance Apache Cassandra clusters within distributed, multi-region settings.
β’ Construct and sustain database infrastructure utilizing Terraform.
β’ Create reusable Terraform modules for RDS provisioning, networking and security settings, as well as backup and disaster recovery plans.
β’ Execute high availability and disaster recovery strategies, including multi-AZ setups, replicas, and cross-region failover mechanisms.
β’ Establish and uphold database platform standards for provisioning, configuration, and monitoring.
β’ Improve performance through query optimization, indexing tactics, and parameter adjustments.
β’ Develop observability and monitoring solutions using CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, and New Relic.
β’ Automate operational processes and integrate them with CI/CD pipelines.
β’ Assist in migrating databases from on-premises environments to AWS and from RDBMS to Cassandra when applicable.
β’ Collaborate with engineering teams on schema design, data modeling, and scalability strategies.
β’ Engage in on-call rotations and take charge of incident response and root cause analysis.
β’ A minimum of 3 years of experience in database engineering, SRE, or platform engineering roles.
β’ Strong practical experience with AWS RDS/Aurora in production settings.
β’ Proficiency in Terraform is essential; it is not optional.
β’ Experience with distributed databases like Cassandra is necessary.
β’ In-depth knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery strategies, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
β’ Comprehensive understanding of the AWS ecosystem, including RDS, EC2, VPC, IAM, and CloudWatch.
β’ Experience in building and maintaining Infrastructure as Code at scale, encompassing Terraform modules, state management, and CI/CD integration.
β’ Background in Linux systems administration.
β’ Strong troubleshooting abilities and experience in managing production incidents.
β’ Preferred: experience with Kubernetes-based database deployments, AWS DMS or migration frameworks, DataStax, Astra DB or managed Cassandra services, DevOps/GitOps workflows, and multi-cloud environments.
