This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop and sustain the core components of Hummingbird’s production platforms.
• Create and implement platform features directly within the codebase.
• Take responsibility for architectural decisions related to production applications.
• Evaluate pull requests and designs submitted by junior engineers.
• Provide mentorship to engineers at the beginning of their careers.
• Engage in development across both front-end and back-end code.
• Collaborate with IT Security and Data and Analytics teams on data access, integration, and system architecture.
• Diagnose and address intricate integration and system reliability challenges at their source.
• Leverage AI-driven development tools to enhance delivery while maintaining oversight of quality and design considerations.
• Document technical choices and the associated trade-offs.
• Contribute to the evolution of Hummingbird’s healthcare patient-access platforms and support the growth of the engineering team.
• Authorized to work legally in the United States without requiring sponsorship.
• 8 to 10+ years of experience in software engineering, focusing on building and deploying production systems.
• Strong, autonomous programming skills across the full technology stack.
• Practical experience with TypeScript, Python, React, and Vite, or similar technologies.
• Proficient in system design and architectural principles.
• Capable of reviewing designs and endorsing technical directions.
• Proven history of mentoring and developing early-career engineers.
• Process-driven mindset with the ability to uphold standards through code and design reviews.
• Comfortable utilizing AI-powered development tools without depending on them for essential engineering judgment.
• Must operate from a location within the United States with stable Internet access.
• Required to work full-time scheduled hours without conflicting outside employment.
• Degree in computer science or a similar formal background in software engineering (preferred).
• Experience in a startup or fast-paced setting (preferred).
• Familiarity with regulated, secure, or high-trust environments, such as healthcare (preferred).
