Senior Staff Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Bulgaria.

📋 Description

• Formulate a comprehensive technology strategy that aligns with the goals of the organization and product priorities.

• Ensure that architectural choices for essential product initiatives are in line with objectives.

• Manage incidents effectively to guarantee service reliability.

• Establish and assess service level objectives.

• Maintain and refine recovery plans.

• Enhance application observability and monitoring practices.

• Implement and supervise backend quality assurance and security protocols.

• Oversee and optimize cloud infrastructure and resource allocation during peak times.

• Improve CI/CD processes and code reviews to boost productivity, efficiency, quality, and security.

• Assess the transition from a worker-based model to an event-driven framework.

• Collaborate with squad developers on daily product tasks while sharing knowledge and best practices.

• Contribute to various technology and product initiatives.

• Address and troubleshoot unforeseen issues that impact business operations.

• Work with cross-functional business teams to identify and communicate technical limitations.

• Define and establish best practices and technical standards for backend systems and infrastructure.

• Lead the development, reliability, and scalability of backend systems and infrastructure.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience as a Senior Staff Engineer specializing in backend and infrastructure.

• Extensive experience with cloud architecture and infrastructure, preferably with GCP; Azure or AWS also considered.

• Strong proficiency in Ruby and Ruby on Rails.

• Fluent in English.

• Proficiency in French is a plus.

• Expertise in managing infrastructure with a focus on scalability and reliability.

• Ability to calmly handle incidents of varying types and impacts.

• Strong willingness and capability to share knowledge.

• Curiosity and commitment to staying updated with industry trends.

• A robust background across multiple environments and products is advantageous.

• Ability to navigate and optimize complex distributed systems is a plus.

• Must currently reside in Bulgaria.

• Must possess the legal right to work in Bulgaria without visa sponsorship.
