This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Netherlands.
• Take charge of network solutions for k0rdent AI, Mirantis's platform dedicated to the creation and management of GPU clouds and AI factories.
• Design interconnections for expansive GPU clusters, ensuring tenant isolation and network access from containers, virtual machines, and bare-metal nodes.
• Develop and disseminate reference architectures and solution designs, ranging from single-rack setups to multi-thousand-GPU clusters.
• Specify InfiniBand and RoCEv2 Ethernet compute fabrics, including rail-optimized and fat-tree/Clos configurations.
• Establish front-end, storage, and management networks, as well as connectivity to customer data centers, public clouds, and hybrid environments.
• Detail multi-tenant isolation through InfiniBand partitions, VRFs, EVPN-VXLAN, and Kubernetes network policies.
• Document scalability limits and trade-offs concerning cost, performance, operability, and vendor dependencies.
• Define Linux host networking and the exposure of NICs, DPUs, and SuperNICs to workloads.
• Design Kubernetes networking for AI applications, incorporating CNIs, Multus, SR-IOV, RDMA plugins, NVIDIA Network Operator, and DRA.
• Design KubeVirt networking for GPU and RDMA traffic.
• Investigate emerging AI networking technologies and standards, prototype designs, and evaluate them against existing practices.
• Publish research notes, design proposals, papers, blog posts, and presentations.
• Build and execute proofs of concept with customers, partners, and within Mirantis labs.
• Develop automation and tools using Python, Go, Bash, Ansible, Helm, Kubernetes manifests, and Terraform.
• Validate and benchmark fabrics and host configurations using tools such as NCCL tests, perftest, and ib_write_bw.
• Serve as a network subject matter expert during customer discovery, design reviews, and architecture workshops.
• Collaborate with hardware/networking partners, Solutions Architects, Partner Management, Engineering, Product teams, and customers.
• Deliver presentations at industry events, webinars, and partner summits.
• Conduct hands-on technical workshops and produce technical enablement content.
• Integrate research findings into Product and Engineering, contributing to the development of the k0rdent AI roadmap.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Over 8 years of experience in network engineering or architecture.
• A minimum of 3 years in data center, HPC, or cloud infrastructure networking.
• Customer-facing experience in roles such as solutions architect, pre-sales engineer, consultant, or technical lead.
• Expertise in data center network design, including spine-leaf and Clos topologies, rail-optimized GPU fabrics, oversubscription, ECMP, and scaling to thousands of nodes.
• Proficiency in InfiniBand, focusing on subnet management, partitioning, adaptive routing, and NCCL/RDMA traffic behavior.
• In-depth knowledge of RoCEv2 Ethernet, including PFC, ECN, DCQCN, QoS, MTU, and buffer tuning.
• Familiarity with routing and overlays: BGP, EVPN-VXLAN, and VRFs for multi-tenancy.
• Experience with hybrid and multi-cloud connectivity, interconnects, VPN, cloud networking constructs, IP address, and DNS planning.
• Comprehensive understanding of Linux networking, NIC drivers, PCI passthrough, SR-IOV, IOMMU, NUMA affinity, iproute2, ethtool, and devlink.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes networking: CNI plugins, Multus, SR-IOV, and RDMA device plugins, network policies, and service exposure.
• Experience with KubeVirt and VM networking, passthrough, and SR-IOV.
• Proficiency in programming or scripting in at least one language; Python or Go preferred.
• Comfortable utilizing Git, CI, and infrastructure-as-code.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Capable of presenting to large audiences and conducting hands-on workshops.
• Adaptable communication style for both network engineers and customer executives.
• Experience working within an international, distributed company across different time zones and cultures.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
• Equivalent practical experience may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
• Compensation and benefits are aligned with the local market and employment agreements.
• Flexible remote work options available.
