Senior Solution Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead the technical discovery process and design solutions for intricate customer opportunities.

• Identify business goals, technical requirements, constraints, dependencies, and potential risks.

• Act as the main technical consultant throughout the sales journey, collaborating with the Sales team from discovery to closure.

• Convert customer requirements into secure, scalable Summit solutions that adhere to technical best practices and the service portfolio.

• Assist customers in navigating technical choices, options, trade-offs, and recommendations.

• Create and deliver solution architectures, technical recommendations, demonstrations, and presentations tailored for technical, business, and executive audiences.

• Oversee technical responses for proposals, statements of work, and intricate customer engagements.

• Proactively identify and address technical objections, risks, and solution deficiencies.

• Collaborate with Finance and internal teams to assess solution economics, cost models, and commercial feasibility.

• Coordinate technical resources across Solution Engineering, Architecture, Product, Delivery, and other teams.

• Provide technical guidance and support to fellow Solution Engineers.

• Stay updated on Summit products and services, industry developments, emerging technologies, and customer demands.

• Contribute to the development of tools, standards, documentation, reference architectures, and practices that enhance Solution Engineering.

• Deliver precise solution scopes and ensure smooth transitions to Delivery teams for effective implementation.

• Enhance solution quality, team capabilities, and the overall Solution Engineering practice at Summit.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 6 years of experience in Solution Engineering, Solutions Architecture, Technical Consulting, Pre-Sales Engineering, or a similar customer-facing technical role.

• Proven experience in designing solutions in B2B technology, IT consulting, managed services, cloud infrastructure, data center, or comparable settings.

• Capability to lead intricate technical discovery and transform ambiguous customer needs into clear, actionable solution proposals.

• Comprehensive technical understanding across various infrastructure technologies.

• Ability to articulate complex technical concepts effectively to technical, business, and executive audiences.

• Proficiency in evaluating competing technical strategies and explaining trade-offs, risks, and business impacts.

• Ability to establish credibility with clients through technical expertise, curiosity, sound judgment, and a consultative approach.

• Competence to collaborate efficiently across Sales, Delivery, Product, Engineering, Finance, and other departments.

• Skill in managing multiple complex opportunities while ensuring attention to detail, quality, and customer obligations.

• Ability to impart knowledge and assist other Solution Engineers.

• Capacity to navigate ambiguity independently and discern when broader technical or organizational involvement is necessary.

• Bonus: Experience in an ISP, data center, managed services provider, cloud service provider, or technology consulting setting.

• Bonus: Experience in designing solutions for complex or enterprise-level customer environments.

• Bonus: Practical experience with Linux and/or Windows systems administration.

• Bonus: Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or other hyperscale cloud platforms.

• Bonus: Knowledge of VMware, Hyper-V, Xen, or KVM.

• Bonus: Experience in designing backup, disaster recovery, networking, infrastructure, or managed services solutions.

• Bonus: Industry certifications in cloud, networking, Linux, Microsoft, virtualization, or related technologies.
