Senior Software Engineering Manager – FrontEnd, API

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Lead engineering managers who support software engineering teams in delivering comprehensive software products from initial concept to production for millions of drivers.

• Manage and develop engineering managers and engineers through performance evaluations, career coaching, and opportunities for professional growth.

• Oversee the planning, execution, and timely delivery of software projects, ensuring adherence to budget and quality standards.

• Guide front-end teams in enhancing UI/UX and oversee internal and external API teams responsible for backend services.

• Collaborate with product and design teams to establish project requirements and set priorities.

• Identify and manage project risks and dependencies while proactively addressing and resolving issues.

• Track project progress and deliver regular updates to stakeholders.

• Engage in the recruiting and hiring processes for engineering teams.

• Review product designs and software architectures, providing constructive feedback.

• Enhance the engineering delivery pipeline to reduce cycle times while improving quality and security.

• Utilize advanced concepts and principles to develop multidisciplinary innovations and solutions for complex business challenges.

• Establish and promote engineering principles and practices within the organization.

• Provide thought leadership across departments to eliminate knowledge silos.

• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and build a learning organization.

• Assess and recommend emerging products and technologies.

• Act as a liaison between the engineering team and other departments within Ford Pro.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Over 12 years of experience in software development.

• Proficient in one or more programming languages, including Java, Python, C++, or Go.

• More than 5 years of experience in a senior leadership position managing teams, leading managers, and delivering software products to market.

• At least 5 years of experience guiding teams in building customer-facing, browser-based applications.

• Strong knowledge of UI/UX principles and modern JavaScript frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience with cloud-based technologies including AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience leading teams that design, construct, and scale internal and external APIs.

• Solid understanding of service-oriented and microservices architectures.

• Must possess legal authorization to work in the United States.

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

• Experience with connected vehicles or IoT devices.

• Familiarity with data analytics and machine learning.

• Experienced in DevOps practices and tools.

• Knowledge of the automotive industry and commercial vehicle operations.

• Strong grasp of Agile and Lean software development methodologies.

• Experience presenting to an executive leadership team.
