This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.
• Oversee an engineering team responsible for designing, constructing, and scaling bespoke Linux kernel solutions.
• Propel the team's efforts on the development of new features, performance optimization, vulnerability management, and support for new hardware.
• Assist engineers in diagnosing, isolating, and resolving low-level system challenges across intricate environments.
• Provide mentorship to team members, establish quality benchmarks, and promote ongoing career advancement.
• Work alongside cross-functional technical teams and engage with open-source communities.
• Offer hands-on technical support as necessary.
• Create, test, and enhance custom Linux kernel infrastructure for Akamai's Compute, Delivery, and AI platforms.
• Direct strategies for system performance, reliability, and security for a vital component of Akamai's global platform.
• A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in managing or leading technical teams in C development or Linux kernel environments.
• Strong grasp of Linux kernel internals, encompassing KVM, network stacks, memory management, and file systems.
• Familiarity with vulnerability management, performance benchmarking, and kernel debugging tools.
• Proficient communication, technical leadership, and collaborative problem-solving abilities.
