Senior Software Engineer, Storage Infrastructure

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain systems that ensure efficient access to emerging and expanding data sets

• Enhance and refine services for internal data search and image processing

• Manage and optimize Elasticsearch indexing for essential data sets

• Take ownership of services from start to finish by monitoring performance, setting up alerts, being on call, and addressing incidents and performance irregularities

• Establish methods and protocols for new tasks, assessing variable factors to deliver intricate solutions

• Serve as a consultant to others while leading project teams or supervising assignments of junior engineers

• Contribute to the technical roadmap and assist in shaping the architectural direction of the team's systems

• Engage in design reviews and facilitate consensus on technical decisions

⛳️ Requirements

• 6–8 years of experience in software engineering

• Proven software development experience in Go, Python, or other contemporary languages for building production backend services and APIs

• Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude, Copilot) integrated into your daily engineering workflow

• Background in monitoring and operating highly scalable cloud-native software

• Familiarity with relational databases (PostgreSQL or MySQL) and non-relational databases (e.g., BigTable, Elasticsearch) along with an understanding of their appropriate applications

• Experience in building, deploying, and maintaining highly available and consistently performant services

• Strong communication skills and the capability to work effectively in a remote environment

• Track record of enhancing codebases, documentation, and team practices through consistent contributions beyond feature development

• Ability to exercise sound judgment in choosing methods and adapting complex techniques to achieve results

• Capability to advise team members on intricate technical issues and adjust communication styles for key stakeholders

• Proficient in analyzing complex problems and providing detailed technical assessments for distributed backend services

• What Makes You Stand Out: Over 6 years of Go development experience in building production backend services

• What Makes You Stand Out: Over 6 years of Python development experience in creating customer-facing APIs

• Experience in managing infrastructure using Kubernetes and Terraform

• Familiarity with building services that utilize cloud-based infrastructure and tools like AWS or GCP

• Experience working with geospatial data, even if indirectly
