This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Greece, +3 more countries.
• Take ownership of the design, development, and ongoing support for performance-critical C/C++ components across Omilia's platform.
• Manage the resolution of scalability and performance challenges impacting telephony and SIP systems.
• Ensure effective time management while consistently meeting deadlines.
• Act as a collaborative and integrated team member across engineering and cross-functional teams.
• Design, implement, and maintain C/C++ components with a focus on performance, memory safety, and concurrency correctness.
• Create efficient applications for mission-critical systems aimed at high availability and performance.
• Troubleshoot complex, multi-threaded, low-level issues utilizing tools such as gdb, valgrind, and/or strace.
• Develop, enhance, and maintain custom Asterisk modules for call handling, recording, and routing.
• Patch, rebuild, and verify Asterisk core and third-party modules in accordance with security advisories and hardening protocols.
• Identify performance bottlenecks and propose enhancements.
• Develop with security best practices in mind and scale services adopting a DevOps approach.
• Regularly meet with the line manager to review progress, address issue resolution, and escalate critical matters.
• Collaborate effectively with other teams, units, and departments.
• Support organizational priority initiatives and represent Omilia as an ambassador.
• Over 5 years of professional experience in C/C++ systems programming, including expertise in memory management, multithreading, and low-level debugging.
• Proficient in Git and C/C++ build systems such as CMake or Meson.
• Practical experience in modifying, compiling, and deploying Asterisk.
• Skilled in writing APIs and/or Web Services & Microservices using C/C++.
• Strong foundation in object-oriented analysis and design utilizing common design patterns.
• Highly self-motivated and driven to achieve exceptional outcomes.
• Capable of working effectively under pressure and meeting strict deadlines.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• A mindset focused on continuous innovation.
• Knowledge of SIP (RFC 3261) and relevant RFCs (SDP, RTP/RTCP, STUN/TURN/ICE) along with practical dialplan authoring experience.
• Experience with programming in Java or Python.
• Familiarity with FreeSWITCH, Kamailio, or OpenSIPS, WebRTC-to-SIP interworking, or call recording/audio codec architectures (G.711, G.729, Opus).
• Experience in regulated environments (PCI-DSS, HIPAA) where call recording and redaction requirements are applicable.
