Java Developer – Senior

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Italy.

📋 Description

• Design and improve Java systems that support the operations of travel agencies, including bookings, ticketing, and collaborations with industry suppliers and partners.

• Responsibly utilize generative AI tools throughout the development process, applying critical judgment and systematic human validation to the generated code.

• Create clear and precise specifications by decomposing requirements into verifiable plans and acceptance criteria for both humans and AI agents.

• Develop and manage context for LLMs, encompassing instructions, constraints, examples, tool/MCP selection, and context-window management.

• Thoroughly assess, validate, and correct code produced by AI or developed by third parties.

• Engage in Agile ceremonies (Scrum/Kanban) and collaborate via Git/Pull Requests.

• Enhance code quality, testability, and maintainability by adhering to object-oriented design principles and best practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Prior experience in the tourism/travel agency sector, with an understanding of the industry's processes and systems.

• Minimum of 3 years of software development experience.

• Strong expertise in Java 8+, preferably Java 17 and 21.

• Familiarity with object-oriented programming.

• Experience with Spring Boot.

• Proficient in using generative AI and agentic tools in software development, with the capacity to critically assess and validate outcomes.

• Ability to craft clear specifications and acceptance criteria (Spec-Driven Development; e.g., /specify, /plan).

• Proficiency in LLM Context Engineering.

• Experience with relational databases and a solid grasp of data modeling fundamentals.

• Understanding of unit and/or integration testing.

• Familiarity with Git and collaborative work via Pull Requests.

• Practical experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, or XP).

• Background in developing and maintaining distributed systems, particularly microservices.

• Knowledge of CI/CD technologies (preferred).

• Understanding of non-relational databases (preferred).

• Familiarity with containers (Docker and Kubernetes) (preferred).

• Knowledge of the REST architecture style (preferred).

• Familiarity with Kafka (preferred).

• Understanding of observability tools (preferred).

• Knowledge of cloud technologies, preferably AWS (preferred).
