Senior Backend Engineer – Pensions Team, Python

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.

📋 Description

• Design, create, and sustain backend services utilizing Python 3.11 with Django / DRF.

• Spearhead technical projects involving payments infrastructure and integrations.

• Enhance system reliability, observability, and operational excellence.

• Collaborate closely with Product, Operations, Compliance, and external partners.

• Analyze production issues and uncover root causes instead of applying temporary fixes.

• Refine legacy systems and mitigate technical debt.

• Lead discussions on architecture and make technical decisions.

• Mentor engineers through code reviews, collaborative programming, and providing technical guidance.

• Assume responsibility for the delivery, planning, and execution of complex projects.

• Contribute to the growth and development of the engineering team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in backend development.

• Proficient in Python and Django.

• Experience in leading projects or engineering teams.

• Strong grasp of distributed systems, integrations, and system reliability.

• Background in dealing with complex legacy systems and technical debt.

• Capacity to provide clarity in uncertain situations.

• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.

• Strong sense of ownership and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

• Proficient in English (B2 level or above) and fluent in Russian.

• Nice to have: experience in fintech, payments, banking, or other highly regulated sectors.

• Nice to have: familiarity with AWS, Docker, MySQL, Redis, RabbitMQ, or Kafka.

• Nice to have: experience leading modernization or system migration projects.
