Senior Software Engineer – Session Replay

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the complete technical strategy for Session Replay, encompassing frontend, backend, and data systems.

• Spearhead the advancement of backend architecture for columnar and analytical data storage.

• Create systems capable of handling large-scale session data.

• Establish data models, ingestion pipelines, and query methodologies.

• Lead investigative processes that integrate replay with logs, metrics, traces, and other telemetry sources.

• Make architectural choices that impact multiple teams and products.

• Collaborate with Frontend Observability, Synthetic Monitoring, and Core Grafana teams.

• Interact directly with customers through calls, structured feedback, and support for Session Replay adoption.

• Enhance engineering standards, methodologies, and operational practices.

• Guide engineers and foster technical leadership within the team.

• Comfortable working in a remote-first environment.

• Capable of articulating design decisions effectively in both written and spoken English.

• Proficient in reasoning about data-intensive systems, including ingestion, storage, querying, and cost considerations.

• Able to take ownership of features in ambiguous problem domains and work autonomously.

• Familiar with a user-centered software development approach.

• Experienced in developing complex solutions with maintainable, readable, and automated code.

• Utilizes AI tools as part of the engineering process.

• Proficient in Go, TypeScript, React, columnar/analytical data storage, object storage, MySQL, and tools from the Grafana ecosystem.

• Bonus: Experience with columnar/analytical databases.

• Bonus: Familiarity with observability tools such as Grafana, Datadog, New Relic, or Sentry.

• Bonus: Experience in creating debugging or developer-focused tools.

• Bonus: Understanding of privacy, security, and access control in data-intensive systems.
