Senior Software Engineer, Search Engineer – Elasticsearch, Vector Search

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ukraine.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the search infrastructure for Ask Seeking Alpha, a financial intelligence platform powered by LLMs.

• Ensure that AI agents can swiftly retrieve precise financial data, including articles, transcripts, and news, within milliseconds.

• Oversee the Retrieval layer of the RAG architecture.

• Design and implement hybrid search strategies that integrate keyword matching with semantic search.

• Create systems to assess and enhance the relevance of search results utilizing tools such as LangSmith.

• Incorporate OpenAI embeddings into Elasticsearch.

• Tackle indexing challenges associated with lengthy documents, such as earnings transcripts.

• Optimize Elasticsearch queries and index configurations for minimal latency, even with complex filtered queries.

• Develop and sustain Python services that formulate queries and process results using FastAPI and Asyncio.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience working with search engines in a production environment.

• Proficient understanding of Elasticsearch indices, analyzers, and mappings.

• Knowledge of lexical search versus vector search and the appropriate usage of each.

• Strong proficiency in Python 3.10 or higher.

• Comfortable with writing asynchronous code utilizing async/await.

• Experience in building APIs.

• Skilled in designing data schemas for search and efficient retrieval.

• Experience with Elasticsearch version 8 or newer.

• Familiarity with Python, FastAPI, and Asyncio.

• Experience with OpenAI Embeddings, LangChain, and LangSmith.

• Experience in constructing RAG pipelines is a plus.

• Familiarity with LangChain or similar LLM frameworks is advantageous.

• Experience with evaluation tools like LangSmith is a bonus.

• A background in finance is considered a plus.
