This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado, +2 more states.
• Develop and enhance the Developer Experience capability within Foundation Engineering.
• Replace shared, slow-to-provision environments with on-demand ephemeral environments.
• Address realistic multi-tenant test data seeding challenges.
• Decrease local build and test durations.
• Create documented golden paths for building, testing, and operating services.
• Facilitate artifact-once builds and their promotion across different environments.
• Establish a reliable feature flag system that distinguishes deployment from release.
• Ensure that dependency scanning, secrets detection, and static analysis are standard steps in every build.
• Unite teams under a shared CI pipeline and assess the adoption of existing tools.
• Write AWS infrastructure and infrastructure-as-code for tools and environments.
• Collaborate with cloud engineers responsible for managing the production footprint.
• Take responsibility for the infrastructure and tools established by this role.
• Advance capabilities for AI-assisted engineering, including deterministic builds, rapid test feedback, sandboxed execution, review gates for agent-authored changes, and MCP platform capabilities.
• Report directly to the Engineering Manager for Developer Experience.
• Define the strategic direction for developer environments and infrastructure-as-code.
• Contribute to production tasks alongside cloud engineers.
• Production AWS infrastructure defined as code using Terraform, CDK, Pulumi, or CloudFormation.
• Practical experience with configuring networking, IAM, and container workloads.
• Experience in carrying a pager for infrastructure relied upon by other engineers.
• Background in building or significantly revamping a CI/CD system utilized by other engineers.
• Capability to articulate the improvements made to a CI/CD system and the metrics used to measure success.
• Experience in making a real system operational outside of production, such as ephemeral environments, multi-tenant test data, or containerized local development.
• Proven track record of writing a tool or service that is used daily by other engineers.
• Experience creating software for users beyond one’s own team of engineers.
• Ability to discuss both the successful and unsuccessful adoption of an engineering product.
• Familiarity with utilizing AI in engineering tasks and assisting other engineers in AI adoption with suitable human oversight.
• Preferred: experience with feature flag platforms and progressive delivery techniques.
• Preferred: familiarity with Kubernetes or ECS at a production scale.
• Preferred: knowledge of OpenTelemetry, distributed tracing, or structured logging, particularly for sensitive data.
• Preferred: experience in HIPAA-regulated or other compliance-sensitive environments.
• Preferred: experience with Bitbucket Pipelines, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or GitHub Actions.
• Preferred: knowledge of test automation frameworks or contract testing in an event-driven architecture.
• Preferred: experience in working alongside a legacy platform during migration processes.
• Preferred: proficiency in Node and TypeScript, internal developer portals, or MCP servers.
