Senior Software Engineer – Modernization, Legacy Systems

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Develop, maintain, and enhance enterprise applications utilizing Java 7 and Java 8.

• Support and upgrade legacy systems that rely on monolithic architecture.

• Conduct technical analyses, pinpoint technical debt, and establish modernization strategies.

• Create new applications and services leveraging Java 21 and contemporary frameworks from the Java ecosystem.

• Design and implement solutions based on microservices and hexagonal architecture.

• Define and implement secure, scalable, and resilient REST APIs.

• Engage in breaking down monoliths into distributed architectures.

• Utilize Clean Code, SOLID principles, Design Patterns, and Domain-Driven Design (DDD) methodologies.

• Contribute to code reviews, development standards, and uphold engineering best practices.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams within agile frameworks.

• Aid in the advancement of continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.

• Participate in performance analysis, observability, and troubleshooting in production settings.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficiency in Java 7 and/or Java 8.

• Experience with the Struts framework.

• Knowledge of JSP, Servlets, and associated libraries.

• Familiarity with enterprise monolithic applications.

• Expertise in integrations using SOAP and legacy services.

• Experience with relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL.

• Knowledge of Java 17 or newer, with a preference for Java 21.

• Familiarity with Spring Boot.

• Experience in microservices architecture.

• Understanding of Hexagonal Architecture (Ports & Adapters).

• Proficiency in designing and implementing REST APIs.

• Experience with messaging technologies like Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar.

• Familiarity with Docker containers.

• Knowledge of Kubernetes/OpenShift.

• Experience with observability and monitoring solutions.

• Solid foundation in software engineering principles.

• Advanced understanding of Clean Code, SOLID principles, and Design Patterns.

• Experience with unit and integration testing.

• Proficiency in Git.

• Familiarity with CI/CD practices.

• Experience with agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.

• Background in application modernization initiatives.

• Experience migrating Struts applications to Spring Boot.

• Knowledge of Domain-Driven Design (DDD).

• Familiarity with Event-Driven Architecture.

• Understanding of cloud platforms like Azure, AWS, or GCP.

• Experience with GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or Jenkins.

• Experience working in high-availability and mission-critical environments.

• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Systems Analysis and Development, Computer Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

• A postgraduate degree, MBA, or additional specialization is preferred.

• Certifications related to Java, Cloud, Kubernetes, DevOps, or Software Architecture are advantageous.
