This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado, +8 more states.
• Create and implement REST APIs, domain logic, and background workflows for finance, payroll, and prospective ERP product areas.
• Design robust data structures and oversee EF Core migrations, SQL performance, and changes to production data.
• Take ownership of intricate capabilities from technical discovery and design to implementation, deployment, and post-production follow-up.
• Collaborate with product, design, and frontend engineering teams to decompose complex workflows into manageable, testable increments.
• Assist in establishing integration and data-import strategies as customers migrate from established desktop products to the new SaaS suite.
• Develop unit and integration tests that encompass business rules, API contracts, data integrity, and failure scenarios.
• Work alongside the platform lead on CI/CD, observability, infrastructure, releases, and production diagnosis.
• Design secure, permission-aware, and auditable workflows tailored for financial and government software.
• Provide technical leadership through code reviews, mentoring, documentation, and shared engineering standards.
• Report directly to the CTO.
• Over 6 years of professional software engineering experience, including significant ownership of production backend systems.
• Extensive production experience with C#/.NET and ASP.NET Core.
• Strong foundational knowledge in REST APIs, application architecture, and data modeling.
• Hands-on experience with relational databases, including SQL Server, EF Core, schema migrations, and query optimization.
• Solid unit and integration testing practices that align testing efforts with technical and business risks.
• Experience in deploying or managing cloud-hosted applications, ideally within Azure.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Git-based development workflows.
• Basic understanding of modern frontend architecture and browser/API integration; deep frontend specialization is not mandatory.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with experience working across engineering, product, and design teams.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools, maintaining design, security, and code quality ownership.
• Preferred: production experience with React, Angular, Vue, or another modern TypeScript framework.
• Preferred: familiarity with Figma or similar design collaboration tools.
• Preferred: experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Bicep.
• Preferred: background in greenfield or 0-to-1 product development.
• Preferred: experience transforming desktop or client/server applications into SaaS products.
• Preferred: background in finance, payroll, ERP, fintech, or local-government software.
• Preferred: experience in regulated or audit-focused environments, including SOC 2, GovRAMP, or FedRAMP readiness.
