Senior Software Engineer – Model Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, implement, and sustain Model Serving infrastructure that supports a top-tier Detection Engine.

• Take ownership of projects that scale model serving and data processing services to accommodate 10 times the current traffic.

• Create a platform dedicated to combating rapidly emerging AI threats.

• Manage real-time and near-real-time streaming pipelines, along with online feature serving services.

• Develop Abnormal’s ML Training platform to enhance MLE velocity as well as improve product precision and recall.

• Work collaboratively with MLE and Data Science teams by synthesizing feedback, aligning it with strategic goals, and executing plans.

• Guide and mentor junior engineers through one-on-one sessions, pair programming, code reviews, and design assessments.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience as a Software Engineer or in a comparable role, with practical experience in building ML-engineering focused solutions.

• Proven experience in maintaining large-scale distributed systems on cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure.

• Solid understanding of cloud-based engineering best practices.

• Experience in managing real-time and near-real-time data pipelines or streaming services at a significant scale.

• Strong ability to collaborate efficiently with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, machine learning engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders.

• Proficient in translating requirements into actionable technical tasks, clearly communicating progress, and adapting to feedback.

• Exceptional problem-solving abilities and capacity to work independently in a dynamic environment.

• Familiarity with machine learning workflows and requirements that support MLE teams, including feature development and serving at 50K+ QPS, offline/online equivalency, and large batch jobs for gathering data and training tree and deep learning models.

• Experience with streaming data architectures and real-time processing.

• Knowledge of security and compliance frameworks associated with data engineering and data privacy.
