This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.
• Take charge of the design and implementation of significant integrations and subsystems, starting from initial partner evaluation to production rollout and ongoing operations.
• Develop and manage integrations with external data providers encompassing KYB, KYC/IDV, AML, fraud detection, banking, and identity verification, while abstracting them behind well-defined, versioned internal contracts.
• Create, refine, and oversee Worth's public REST APIs and SDKs, concentrating on versioning, backward compatibility, authentication, rate limiting, and enhancing the developer experience.
• Convert vague partner specifications, customer integration needs, and vendor edge cases into clear technical designs that highlight the understood trade-offs.
• Produce production-grade code across backend and, as necessary, frontend systems utilizing Node.js, TypeScript, Nest.js, and React.js.
• Design and enhance PostgreSQL schemas for vendor responses, normalization layers, and crosswalking metadata, with a focus on indexing, performance, and data integrity.
• Construct event-driven workflows using Kafka and Redis for enrichment, retries, dead-lettering, and backpressure management across upstream APIs.
• Enhance slow queries and address systemic performance bottlenecks in high-throughput integration pipelines.
• Deploy, monitor, and troubleshoot containerized integration services within Kubernetes, including setting up alerting and runbooks.
• Refactor outdated integration code into modular, testable, and swappable adapters.
• Manage production incidents and strengthen systems to minimize recurrence.
• Lead by example in code reviews and mentor others on integration patterns, resilience, testing strategies, and API design.
• Convey complex trade-offs across engineering, product, partnerships, and customer-facing teams.
• Ensure reliable vendor and customer integrations by preparing rollout, monitoring, and rollback plans.
• Sustain API performance, reliability, consistency, versioning, and usability for developers.
• Enhance code quality, maintainability, team delivery speed, technical direction, and execution.
• Over 8 years of professional experience in software engineering.
• Proven ownership of major features or subsystems in a production environment, ideally with substantial integration or platform-API surface area.
• Extensive expertise in the Node.js and TypeScript ecosystem.
• Strong system design capabilities, particularly related to resilient integrations: retries, idempotency, circuit breakers, rate limiting, webhook management, and graceful degradation.
• Experience in designing or operating a public API or SDK (including versioning, authentication, contracts, and developer ergonomics).
• Practical experience with PostgreSQL, involving schema design and query optimization.
• Experience in building or maintaining event-driven systems using Kafka.
• Proficient in managing containerized applications in Kubernetes.
• Proven track record of refactoring complex or legacy integration code into modular, swappable, and well-tested adapters.
• Demonstrated experience in mentoring junior engineers and elevating team quality standards.
• Ability to effectively navigate high-ambiguity situations, including incomplete, contradictory, or evolving partner specifications.
