Senior Software Engineer, Backend/Fullstack

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the backend services that drive Coinbase Advisor and Strategies, overseeing everything from technical design to launch and ongoing management.

• Create integrations with Coinbase trading APIs to ensure accurate and auditable execution.

• Develop the agentic harness, which includes tool calling, orchestration, persistent state management, and recovery from failed or partially completed actions.

• Influence agent behavior through prompt engineering, evaluations, and conversation analysis.

• Collaborate with the registered investment adviser on modifications to financial advice.

• Enhance service reliability, latency, observability, and execution safety.

• Implement retry mechanisms and safeguards to prevent duplicate actions.

• Work alongside frontend engineering, product, design, trading infrastructure, and legal/compliance teams.

• Deliver customer-facing features while adhering to regulatory standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional software engineering experience with a strong focus on backend development.

• Proven history of shipping and managing production services.

• Extensive experience in API design, distributed systems, data modeling, testing, and troubleshooting production failures.

• Proficiency in Go or a demonstrated capacity to learn it effectively.

• Experience in building production-level LLM or agentic systems, including tool calling, orchestration, or evaluation.

• Capability to navigate ambiguous projects from inception to production with minimal supervision.

• Strong product insight and technical judgment.

• Responsible application of generative AI with human oversight.

• Must be located in the USA.
