Senior Backend Engineer, IoT

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Design and sustain Toniecloud IoT services catering to millions of users.

• Contribute to the Toniecloud ecosystem, which includes a Django backend platform featuring RESTful and GraphQL APIs.

• Engage with an IoT messaging stack that processes technical diagnostic data from millions of Tonieboxes globally.

• Ensure the reliability of services 24/7/365 and assist in achieving a 99.99% SLA.

• Collaborate within a cross-functional, stream-aligned team to promote technical excellence.

• Partner with the Product Manager and team members to enhance the in-app user experience.

• Empower parents to set up and configure their Tonieboxes and Tonies.

• Continuously enhance usability, quality, security, and service reliability.

• Investigate and implement new solutions through agile, independent, and innovative work.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience as a software engineer.

• Proven history in developing or maintaining backends for IoT products.

• Proficient in at least two programming languages, including Python.

• Capable of swiftly adapting to new programming languages.

• Essential experience with Django.

• Familiarity with database systems, preferably PostgreSQL.

• Considerate and effective use of ORMs.

• Experience with Linux.

• Daily usage of Git and GitLab.

• Knowledge of automated testing, CI/CD, and observability practices.

• Experience with REST or GraphQL APIs.

• Strong communication skills in professional English.

• Must currently reside in Germany.
