This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.
• Define, assess, and enhance SLOs/SLAs and error budgets for essential services.
• Advance and expand the platform to accommodate a growing customer base and increasing request volumes.
• Detect vulnerabilities, risky trends, and capacity constraints prior to their impact on customers.
• Engage in a compensated 24/7 on-call rotation and assist in leading incident response efforts.
• Manage mitigation, conduct blameless postmortems, and ensure follow-up after incidents.
• Oversee observability across dashboards, alerting, tracing, and logging utilizing Datadog.
• Propel performance enhancements across latency-sensitive pathways.
• Design, develop, and deploy product features comprehensively across Java/Spring Boot microservices.
• Address API design through to rollout.
• Balance the delivery of features with ongoing improvements.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to transform requirements into dependable, well-tested services.
• Over 5 years of experience in building and managing modern distributed backend services.
• Proficiency in the Java/Spring Boot technology stack.
• Familiarity with AWS cloud services, Kafka, and PostgreSQL.
• Proven history with high-availability systems and scaling systems under increasing loads.
• Proficient in a modern observability stack.
• Strong understanding of SLO/SLA concepts.
• Proactive ownership mentality.
• Capability to oversee features from design and implementation through testing and delivery.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience leveraging AI effectively as an engineering tool.
• Experience in payments, card issuing, or transaction processing is a plus.
• PCI DSS certification or experience operating within a PCI DSS environment is a plus.
• Experience in fraud detection or prevention is a plus.
• Knowledge in chaos/resilience testing, capacity planning, or load testing is a plus.
• Familiarity with safe deployment practices such as canary, blue/green, or progressive rollouts is a plus.
