Backend Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Latin America.

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain Python backend services and APIs

• Design and enhance ETL processes and large-scale data processing pipelines

• Utilize BigQuery extensively along with advanced SQL

• Oversee scheduled jobs, queues, background tasks, and asynchronous workflows

• Work with GCP infrastructure, including Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, monitoring, and load balancing

• Improve the methods for precomputing, packaging, caching, compressing, and delivering data

• Troubleshoot issues across various data sources, pipelines, databases, APIs, infrastructure, and the frontend

• Contribute to features in React/Next.js/TypeScript leveraging AI coding tools

• Take ownership of selected features from architecture and data pipeline through to API, frontend, deployment, analytics, and iteration

• Monitor performance, reliability, scalability, and product usage post-launch

• Investigate bugs, implement solutions, and resolve issues in production systems

• Identify blockers, risks, and reliability concerns early, providing recommendations for solutions

• Collaborate with the CEO and development team via daily standups, brief one-on-ones, and ongoing communication

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive professional experience in Python backend development and production APIs

• Proficient in advanced SQL and hands-on experience with BigQuery handling large datasets

• Practical experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

• Strong background in building ETL/data pipelines

• Familiarity with asynchronous processing and background tasks

• Solid understanding of data architecture, system design, performance enhancement, and debugging

• Adequate experience in React, JavaScript, or TypeScript to effectively engage with an existing frontend codebase

• Daily usage of AI coding tools such as Claude, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot

• Strong English communication skills for daily standups and one-on-ones with the CEO

• Proficient in Git and modern development workflows

• Experience with PostHog or similar product analytics platforms

• Familiarity with geographic or time-series data

• Knowledge of caching and data packaging for high-traffic applications

• Consistent availability during Central Time business hours

• Willingness to work 40 hours a week
