Senior Software Engineer, Applied AI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design and develop production-quality AI agent systems, encompassing multi-agent workflows, orchestration layers, and dependable, observable, and auditable infrastructure.

• Create architectures for retrieval, context, and memory to anchor AI outputs and enable reliable multi-step workflows.

• Lead the development of AI-driven decision-support systems that fulfill accuracy, traceability, and explainability standards within healthcare and regulated settings.

• Architect distributed services, event-driven workers, job pipelines, state management, failure recovery, APIs, and data models.

• Guide the creation of intuitive, product-quality experiences using React and TypeScript for complex AI functionalities.

• Establish organization-wide patterns for AI quality and safety, including automated evaluations, regression testing, groundedness assessments, compliance measures, and production monitoring.

• Define standards for the deployment and operation of AI-enabled systems through CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, observability, alerting, and production support.

• Mentor senior engineers, lead architecture discussions, address cross-team risks, and influence technical roadmaps.

• Advise stakeholders in Engineering, Product, Data, Security, Infrastructure, and business sectors.

• Set the technical vision for Gravie’s AI-enabled products, platforms, retrieval systems, model integrations, and shared capabilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Ten or more years of experience in software engineering, including technical leadership of intricate, distributed systems from design to production.

• Proven experience in establishing technical direction across multiple teams or product domains.

• Practical experience in developing and managing production AI applications, beyond mere prototypes.

• Hands-on experience with agentic software development utilizing AI coding agents.

• In-depth expertise in at least one core area, such as Python backend and distributed systems, or React and TypeScript product development.

• Familiarity with retrieval, embeddings, context, memory, evaluation, monitoring, or AI agent architectures and workflows.

• Experience in setting engineering standards for cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, observability, reliability, and production operations.

• Demonstrated capability in designing evaluation, testing, monitoring, and continuous improvement practices for AI systems.

• Strong understanding of security, privacy, access control, data governance, auditability, and compliance factors for AI systems.

• Proven track record of leading through influence, aligning stakeholders, and conveying complex technical concepts and trade-offs to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Demonstrated success in mentoring engineers and elevating technical standards across teams.
