Senior Software Engineer, AI Agent Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Oversee the design and functioning of real-time voice AI systems that provide support to human 911 telecommunicators on a large scale.

• Tackle and resolve the most challenging issues within our stack, including low-latency audio, streaming, telephony, LLM orchestration, and human-in-the-loop AI workflows.

• Promote engineering excellence in areas such as reliability, availability, security, and performance, establishing the standards for the team.

• Work in collaboration with product, design, and operations leadership to convert vague customer and operational challenges into a cohesive technical strategy.

• Guide and mentor engineers to enhance their technical skills through reviews, design feedback, and collaborative work.

• Develop and refine evaluation, testing, and observability frameworks for AI-assisted systems.

• Lead incident management and post-incident analysis, ensuring the creation of quality runbooks and maintaining on-call health.

⛳️ Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in real-time communication systems with in-depth knowledge of Speech-to-Text, Text-to-Speech, Voice Activity Detection, and the architecture of LLM, agentic, or RAG systems in a production environment, including evaluations and prompt testing frameworks at scale.

• Proven production software engineering experience, demonstrating a strong record of technical leadership.

• Proficiency in working across backend systems, infrastructure, AI pipelines, and product interfaces.

• Capability to transform ambiguous product or operational challenges into precise technical plans for the team.

• Regular use of AI tools while upholding high standards for responsible application.

• Strong product judgment with an emphasis on enhancing user experience.

• Demonstrated experience in effectively mentoring engineers.
