Senior Server Engineer, Scala

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Design and sustain the QAD Redzone API Backend using Scala.

• Develop and uphold the MCP server to facilitate AI integrations and enhance internal tools.

• Enhance the utilization of OpenSearch within the backend application.

• Fulfill delivery commitments made during sprints to meet business objectives.

• Utilize cutting-edge Scala and web technologies to maintain a competitive advantage.

• Offer subject matter expertise during incidents to swiftly resolve customer issues.

• Engage in forums, delve into interests beyond sprint tasks, and contribute ideas for system improvements.

• Assist the team and broader organization in accomplishing goals.

• Produce code that is both testable and maintainable.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of relevant professional experience as a Backend Engineer.

• More than 5 years of experience with Scala.

• Proficiency in Java.

• Experience with API-first design utilizing OpenAPI Specification (OAS).

• Capability to generate Tapir endpoints and models from OAS.

• Familiarity with maintaining versioned API contracts.

• Experience in transforming objects using Chimney.

• Knowledge of asynchronous programming with Cats Effect.

• Experience in publishing and consuming Avro-formatted Kafka messages.

• Expertise in relational table design with PostgreSQL.

• Experience with transactional database access using Slick or Doobie.

• Understanding of database migration patterns, such as expand and contract.

• Ability to write observable and testable code using Specs2 and ScalaMock.

• Comfortable with refactoring and developing within large legacy codebases.

• Possess a modularized programming mindset.

• Familiarity with Trunk Based Development.

• Experience with LaunchDarkly feature flagging.

• Knowledge of CI/CD processes.

• Proficiency with GitHub Actions.

• Experience with AWS Cloud.

• Familiarity with Kubernetes (EKS).

• Experience with Docker.

• Must currently reside in the UK.
