Senior Server Engineer, Scala

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Design and sustain the QAD Redzone API Backend using Scala for teams on the manufacturing frontline.

• Build and maintain the MCP server to facilitate AI integrations and enhance internal tools.

• Optimize the utilization of OpenSearch within the backend application.

• Fulfill delivery tasks agreed upon during sprints to meet business objectives.

• Utilize existing Scala and web technologies effectively.

• Offer subject matter expertise during incidents to swiftly resolve customer concerns.

• Engage in forums, pursue interests beyond sprint responsibilities, and contribute ideas for system enhancements.

• Collaborate with the team and the broader organization to achieve collective goals.

• Produce testable and maintainable code.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of relevant professional experience as a Backend Engineer.

• More than 5 years of experience with Scala.

• Experience with Java.

• Proficient in API-first design utilizing OpenAPI Specification (OAS).

• Capable of generating Tapir endpoints and models from OAS.

• Experience in maintaining versioned API contracts.

• Skilled in transforming objects using Chimney.

• Familiar with asynchronous programming through Cats Effect.

• Experience in publishing and consuming Avro-formatted Kafka messages.

• Knowledge in relational table design with PostgreSQL.

• Experience with transactional database access using Slick or Doobie.

• Understanding of database migration patterns such as expansion and contraction.

• Proficient in writing observable and testable code with Specs2 and ScalaMock.

• Comfortable refactoring and developing within extensive legacy codebases.

• Embrace a modular programming mindset.

• Understand and practice Trunk-Based Development.

• Experience with LaunchDarkly feature flagging.

• Familiarity with CI/CD practices.

• Proficient in GitHub Actions.

• Experience with AWS Cloud.

• Knowledge of Kubernetes (EKS).

• Experience using Docker.

• Must currently reside in the UK.
